Jackpot Tournament
Sonora Nissan
Courtesy of Sonora Nissan, the top five pros and the top five amateurs of 2012 will have the chance to fish in a free winner take all $500 bonus jack pot tournament in January 2013, the Sunday BEFORE the BBQ.  The Actual top five will be selected by the regular 12 tournaments of the 2012 season. Pairing will be by random draw. There will be a big bass option. Prizes will be awarded at the BBQ.  If a top five finisher is unable to attend then the next place finishing Pro or Amateur respectively will get to fish the jackpot.
  • AWARDS BBQ - January 28th at Mittry Lake
  • Rules Changes / Clarifications for 2012
    • SIGN UP - Starts on the FIRST of the month.
    • Entries may be mailed, paid on line, or paid at the partner draw meeting.  You may mail or pay your membership at anytime.  A hand signed membership and liability form will still be required before you can fish in a tournament.
    • You may not get out of the boat to land a fish.
    • For the rule that you may not get out of the boat to better your position, pushing off the bottom with even one foot is considered getting out of the boat.  If you attempt to enter an area by allowed methods (main motor, trolling motor, push pole, pulling on brush above the water with your hands) and are unable to do so you may get out of the boat if you have to in order to get unstuck.  You may not fish an area accessed by doing so.
    •  In the event one member of a team is discovered by the other member of the team to be unqualified to fish for the day (such as not having proper license or stamps), both parties need not be disqualified if any fish caught by the unqualified party are immediately released and the unqualified party ceases fishing immediately upon discovery of the disqualifying factor.  In the event that any fish are in question as to who caught them they must be released.  Otherwise both parties are disqualified.
  • The January draw meeting will be held at the BBQ after everything else is done.
  • The remaining eleven (11) draw meetings for 2012 will be held at Baron Fuels.
  • There will be no biggest bass of the season jackpot in 2012.

The Pro Angler of the Year was down to the very last tournament.
The Amateur Angler of the Year was even closer than that.

December Results 2011
Oh!  The points are close. It could have been decided as late as December.  Certainly all of the last three tournaments of the year were critical in determinign the Pro angler of the year.  The Amateur angler of the year was even closer than that.  Billy Skinner and Shawn Cogswell took first place in December with 10.65 pounds.  Ed Reeder and Allen Hook finished 2nd.  Dave Willhide and Kevin Goss had thrid and 1st place big bass.  2nd place big bass went to Bob La Londe and Rick Johnson,

November Results 2011
Kevin Goss and Steve Magallanes finished 1st and had 1st place big bass with 17.61 and 7.08 respectively.  Craig Johnson and Simon Apodaka finished 2nd, with Ed Reeder and Allen Hook taking 3rd.  Hammer had the 2nd place big bass for the day.

October Results 2011
Craig Johnson fishing solo was the first place pro with 12.91.  2nd place pro was Ed Reeder.  Craig and Ed are battling it out for angler of the year.  These last few tournaments will really make the difference. Craig Johnso also had big bass of the day.  Dave Willhide was the 3rd place pro.  1st place amateur was Rick Johnson followed by John Gleeson and Brandon Herndon respectively in 2nd and 3rd.

WHAT IS YUMA PRO AM ?

Yuma Pro Am is a fishing tournament club that pairs anglers with boats and anglers without boats to fish together as a team against other teams. Pairing is by random drawing only. It is a great opportunity to fish with new people and learn new tactics on the Colorado River and Mittry Lake. It is a lot of fun, but each tournament is run a lot like a professional tournament, and some of the guys take it a little seriously. Be prepared to fish.

HOW DO I SIGN UP ???

We are in the process of trying to implement an on-line signup method.  Please check back or call Bob for more details.

The Draw for Team Partners
Will Be Held at Baron Fuels
I spoke with Ron Wood of Baron Fuels earlier this morning.  He said he has no issue with us doing late signups and the draw for partners on Saturday evening in his store.  We will be over in the "Pancho's Restaurant" area of the store from about 5:00PM until 6:15 PM when we draw numbers to see who our fishing partner for the day will be.

September 2011 recap
After going 5 years without being busted, the 8 pound pot has now been busted for a second time this year.  Ted Hook of Sonoara Nissan drew his brother Allan, and Allan nailed a beautiful 8.8 pound largemouth bass in the tournament on Sunday September 19th 2011. They had 1st place and 1st place big bass.  2nd place fishing solo was Mac McDermott.  3rd went to Lannes Brock and Rick Johnson, and Bobbi McDermott fishing with Jim Cox finished 4th.  Bob La Londe fishing solo had 2nd place big bass.

August 2011 Recap
Bobbi McDermott and Chad Maddox smoked the field by over 3 pounds for htier first place finish and 1st place big fish.  Bob La Londe & Clay Buchanon finished 2nd with the 2nd place big bass.  Greg Gilbert fishing the club for the very first time finished 3rd fishing with Will Wathan.  4th Place went to Hammer and Tim Clark.

March 2011 Recap

It was reported to be a very slow bite, and even the top finisher had small limits.  This was blamed by some on uncharachteristically high water and unseasonable falling water temps on the river.  First place with a 9.69 pound limit was Hammer and Kevin Goss.  2nd place pro fishing solo was Craig Johnson.  Craig also sported the big bass of the day at 3.12 pounds.  3rd/2nd were Ted Hook & Brandon Herndon.
4th/3rd and both first out of the money were Ed Reeder & Ron Terhark.  2nd place big bass went to Bob La Londe and John Gleeson.  The points page has been update:  April 5th 2011

February 2011 Recap

Bucky Leigh and Josh Armstrong sure nailed it in February with 15.42 pounds and 7.15 pound big bass.  2nd was Alvin Hatton & Kalvis Miles followed by Craig Johnson and Nathan Wyrick in 3rd.  2nd place big bass went to 4th place finishers Kevin Goss and Will Wathan with a 5.69 pounder.

Craig Johnson & Dave Brach Clearly knew how to catch them In January.  They set 2 club records with an 11.12 pound big fish and a 25.56 total weight besting the next competitor in the field by more than 15 pounds.  Incredible fishing.

Kevin with Preferred Plastics Custom Baits has reported he still does not have a tackle store in our region selling his plastics.  You need to visit his website to purchase.  There is a good back stock on most things, but some items may have to be made on demand.  Give him a couple days lead time to fill your order.  We still have lots of baits from Kevin to handout through the rest of the season and at the BBQ in January.
King Cobra Tackle Company has a new website coming out soon.  Watch here for news when its ready. Manuel has been donating his unique Dual Concept spinnerbaits at most tournaments to be given away by random drawing.  He also has donated a prize pack of jigs to be given away if the winner of a tournament is wearing a King Cobra hat or t-shirt.  Mr Garcia has also donated his time to calculating and keeping the points standings up to date.
Taipan Custom Rods is now performing reel repair and tune ups as well as making some very interesting custom rods.  Need a guide replaced or a reel serviced?  Just drop them off at Sportsmen's Hide-A-Way.  Simon will get to them very soon.
TTI-Blakemoore has a vast array of hooks to meet almost any need.
